Liverpool Extends Contract Offer to Adrian

Liverpool FC has extended a one-year contract to backup goalkeeper Adrian, whose current deal is set to expire this summer. The club had not previously confirmed his departure, and the recent retained list clarifies their intention to keep him.

In addition to Adrian, fellow goalkeepers Jacob Poytress and Reece Trueman have also been offered new contracts despite their existing deals nearing an end.

Liverpool has announced the departures of Joel Matip, Thiago, and eight other players. Among those released are Adam Lewis, Melkamu Frauendorf, and Mateusz Musialowski, all of whom have made first-team appearances. Additionally, academy players Nathan Giblin, Francis Gyimah, Luke Hewitson, Niall Osborne, and Cody Pennington will be leaving the club.

Adrian recently suggested that he might return to Spain if he receives an offer from a La Liga team. In an interview with Mucho Deporte, he stated, “I would like to return to La Liga after 11 seasons in the Premier League. It would be the end of a cycle. I’m still ready to compete and feel very good despite being 37.”

However, it now appears that the 37-year-old will continue into a 12th season in English football under new head coach Arne Slot. Adrian’s last appearance for Liverpool was in the Community Shield win over Manchester City in July 2022, one of only two appearances in the past three seasons.
