Trent Alexander-Arnold is reportedly eyeing a surprising move to become the next owner of French football club FC Nantes.
According to L’Equipe, the Liverpool star has the backing of his father, Michael Arnold, who is assisting with the purchase through a London-based investment firm.
The French publication claims the proposed takeover is valued at £83.8 million, following earlier discussions with Nantes’ current owner, Waldemar Kita, during the previous summer. However, Nantes has since denied that any such negotiations have taken place with the right-back.
Despite the club’s statement, the prospect of Alexander-Arnold acquiring a Ligue 1 team appears to be a real possibility if the reports prove accurate. Waldemar Kita, who has faced criticism from the club’s fanbase over his leadership, is believed to be open to selling the club, and the financial backing behind this bid seems substantial.
While it may come as a surprise to many, Alexander-Arnold’s venture into football club ownership reflects his growing interest in business investments. This latest move follows his involvement with Alpine’s F1 team, highlighting his willingness to branch out beyond football.
If the deal goes through, it will certainly feel unusual to think of Trent not only as Liverpool’s iconic No.66 but also as the owner of a top-flight French club. However, it’s clear that the fullback is keen to make his mark both on and off the pitch.
