Another Young Talent Departs Liverpool for a Cut-Rate Transfer

Liverpool has seen a significant reshuffling of its squad this summer, and now another young prospect is on the verge of departing.

Harvey Blair is reportedly close to finalizing a move to Portsmouth, a Championship club eager to solidify its position in England’s second tier.

After years of struggle, Portsmouth has earned their spot in the Championship and is determined to stay there by bolstering their squad. John Mousinho, Portsmouth’s manager, has already added several players on free transfers, and now the club is set to welcome the Liverpool forward.

According to The Athletic, the deal to bring Blair to Portsmouth is nearing completion, with a transfer fee of £300,000. The 20-year-old has already been granted permission to negotiate personal terms and is expected to undergo a medical shortly.

Blair has been part of Liverpool’s system since 2015, joining their academy ranks before making his senior debut under Jurgen Klopp in a League Cup match against Preston North End in October 2021. Although he participated in all three games during Liverpool’s pre-season tour in the United States this summer, the forward is unlikely to see much playing time this season due to the depth in Liverpool’s attacking options under the new coach, Arne Slot.

The departure of Blair marks another step in the ongoing restructuring at Liverpool, where several young talents have been moved on. Calvin Ramsay and Rhys Williams have both gone out on loan, while Fabio Carvalho, Bobby Clark, and Sepp van den Berg are also expected to leave permanently. Blair’s transfer to Portsmouth is part of a broader strategy as Liverpool continues to evolve under their new management and coaching structure.
