Liverpool Eyeing Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon Ahead of Summer Transfer Window

Liverpool are reportedly showing interest in Newcastle United midfielder Anthony Gordon as the summer transfer window approaches. According to the Daily Star, the Reds are considering making a move for the England international, who joined the Magpies from Everton only 18 months ago.

The report suggests that Newcastle might need to sell one of their players this summer to balance their finances. Gordon, who has had an outstanding debut season at St. James’ Park with 11 goals and 10 assists, could be the player they decide to cash in on.

Gordon is expected to be part of Gareth Southgate’s final squad for the European Championships this summer following his impressive performances.

The Newcastle player recently made comments about Liverpool that could unsettle Magpies fans. While on international duty, Gordon praised the atmosphere at Anfield, stating that it is one of the best venues he has ever played in. Speaking to Channel 4’s TikTok channel, he said:

“Other than St. James’, it’s Anfield by far. I think because I am from the city, I grew up watching it. I just think before the game, when they sing You’ll Never Walk Alone, it’s top. It is top level.”

The left-winger could be a key starter for England in the Euros after his standout season for Newcastle.

Gordon’s pace and finishing have been crucial assets for Newcastle and could similarly benefit the England national team. Newcastle United will be hoping to keep Gordon at the club for a long time, as he has yet to reach his peak.

Gordon is likely to feature for England on Monday night when they face Bosnia and Herzegovina.
