Caoimhin Kelleher has signaled his readiness to explore new opportunities in pursuit of becoming a first-choice goalkeeper.

Reflecting on his tenure at Liverpool, Kelleher expressed deep appreciation for his time with the club and the chance to shine during Alisson Becker’s injury layoff.

“This was the first time I had an extended run in the team, and I relished it,” the Irish goalkeeper shared with James Pearce from The Athletic.

He elaborated, “It was my opportunity to showcase the level I believe I can reach and that the club believes I’m capable of. I demonstrated that I have what it takes to play in the Premier League – I felt at home there.”

The former Ringmahon Rangers player also discussed the benefits of regular playing time and his career aspirations.

“Playing against Man City at Anfield, especially with the rivalry, was a highlight. Such high-profile matches are unparalleled in world football, and I think I performed admirably. It made me realize I can perform at a high level consistently. I got a taste of it and now I want more. My main goal is to be a No.1.”

Is a summer move on the horizon for Caoimhin Kelleher?
Kelleher’s ambitions are well-founded. He also acknowledged the immense quality of Liverpool’s first-choice keeper, Alisson Becker.

However, he admitted that due to the fierce competition, his future might lie away from Anfield.

“I love this club, the fans, and I have a great relationship with the players and staff. But whether it’s at Liverpool or elsewhere, I feel the next step for me is to become a No.1,” the 25-year-old stated.

While it would be a significant loss to see a player of Kelleher’s caliber depart this summer, he undeniably deserves a chance to assume greater responsibility and flourish as a primary goalkeeper.

It’s high time he gets the opportunity to be a No.1.
