Fabrizio Romano: Liverpool Seals Agreement to Sign Attacker

Liverpool have dramatically reshaped their transfer window with two swift acquisitions.

Following the signing of Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, the Reds have now secured another major addition to their squad.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool have successfully reached an agreement with Juventus to sign Federico Chiesa. The Italian international, who was entering the final year of his contract in Turin, was widely expected to depart, and Liverpool have now won the race to bring him to Anfield.

Chiesa, who played a pivotal role in Italy’s Euro 2020 victory over England, joins Liverpool in a deal that is being hailed as a bargain. The Reds have negotiated an initial fee of €13 million, with add-ons included. The versatile attacker, capable of playing across all positions in the forward line, is expected to arrive in Liverpool today to finalize a four-year contract with the Premier League club.

This signing follows what had been a relatively quiet summer for Liverpool, where they missed out on targets such as Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi and Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon. However, the swift captures of Chiesa and Mamardashvili have now brought renewed energy to their transfer strategy.

Mamardashvili is set to remain at Valencia on loan for the upcoming season, joining Liverpool next summer. In contrast, Chiesa will immediately bolster the Reds’ attacking options. Despite concerns over his fitness record, Liverpool will be optimistic about the impact he can make if he stays healthy.

Under the guidance of Arne Slot, Liverpool have finally made the crucial signings they needed. Chiesa’s arrival is particularly promising, as his talent and versatility could prove to be a significant asset for the club in the coming seasons.
