Federico Chiesa Teases “Exciting New Path” Before Completing Liverpool Deal

Federico Chiesa has already made his intentions clear to supporters as he prepares for a £10.7 million transfer from Juventus to Liverpool.

Having agreed to personal terms on a four-year contract, the Italian winger is now en route to Merseyside, with a medical awaiting him.

Chiesa expressed his excitement about the move, stating that he “can’t wait” to embark on this “new adventure.” Speaking to reporters at Turin-Caselle Airport, he shared:

“I’m thrilled, really happy. I want to express my gratitude to the Bianconeri fans. Thank you for the love and support over these years; I’ll always carry it with me. My thanks also go to Juventus. It’s bittersweet to leave this way, but I’m excited about this new chapter. My family and I are eagerly looking forward to it.”

Chiesa’s tenure at Juventus spanned four years, initially joining on loan from Fiorentina before making the move permanent in 2022. Juventus paid €50 million (£42.3 million) for his transfer two years ago, though Chiesa faced challenges, including a major ACL injury.

Last season, however, was a turnaround for the 26-year-old, who found his form under coach Massimiliano Allegri. Chiesa managed to score 10 goals, averaging a goal every 2.8 games. Throughout his time at Juventus, he accumulated 32 goals in 131 appearances, adding to the 34 goals he scored in 154 matches for Fiorentina.

As a right-footed winger, Chiesa gained widespread recognition for his performances on the right flank during Italy’s Euro 2021 victory. Should the Liverpool deal materialize, he would likely provide competition for Mo Salah on the right wing but could also serve as a versatile option across all forward positions. Chiesa’s adaptability could prove valuable for Liverpool, though his ability to stay fit remains a concern given his injury history.

Despite these concerns, Liverpool’s medical team is confident that Chiesa can overcome his past injuries. The ACL tear in the 2021/22 season was his most significant setback, but after making 37 appearances for Juventus last season, there’s hope that Chiesa can maintain his fitness and be a key asset for Liverpool in the years to come.
