Hazard Admits Chelsea Offloaded a Player Superior to Him in Major Claim

Chelsea legend Eden Hazard recently made a bold statement, claiming that Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah is a better player than he was, which is high praise from the Belgian.

Hazard enjoyed a stellar career in the Premier League, dazzling fans with his skill and scoring memorable goals at Stamford Bridge. He cemented his status as a Chelsea great before an unfortunate move to Real Madrid that eventually led to an early retirement.

Interestingly, Salah also had a brief stint at Chelsea, but his time at the club didn’t pan out as expected. After leaving Stamford Bridge, Salah found success in Serie A with Fiorentina and Roma before returning to the Premier League with Liverpool, where he truly blossomed.

One can only imagine Chelsea’s regret in not giving the Egyptian more opportunities, as he’s now widely regarded as one of Liverpool’s greatest-ever players, hitting new heights after his initial struggles in London.

In a conversation with Sport Bible, Hazard openly acknowledged that Salah surpassed him, a remarkable admission considering both players’ achievements in the Premier League. Both wingers are counted among the finest talents the league has seen, sparking debates over who was better at their peak.

Salah is known for his prolific goal-scoring ability and remarkable consistency, whereas Hazard often wowed fans with his extraordinary flair and creativity on the ball.

It’s difficult to separate the two, and such discussions can become repetitive, similar to the longstanding Messi vs. Ronaldo debate. Perhaps it’s best to simply appreciate what both players brought to the game in their unique ways.

Ultimately, Chelsea might have the biggest reason to reflect on this, as letting go of both Salah and Kevin De Bruyne—who also left around the same time and later thrived with rivals—stands as one of the club’s biggest transfer mistakes in recent history.
