Liverpool FC‘s young centre-back Jarell Quansah has signed a new long-term deal with the club. The 21-year-old, who has been with the Reds since he was five, confirmed his commitment at the AXA Training Centre.
Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com after signing, Quansah expressed his excitement: “I couldn’t be happier right now. The new manager’s coaching style has been a big influence on my decision, and I believe this is the perfect club for my development as a player.”
He added that learning from the top players in his position will only benefit his growth. “There’s no better place for me to be. The players around me are some of the best, and I’m determined to work hard and absorb as much as I can from them.”
Quansah made significant strides last season after a successful loan spell with Bristol Rovers during the 2022-23 campaign. His first-team debut came in August 2023, when he impressed as a substitute in Liverpool’s victory over Newcastle United. By the end of the 2023-24 season, he had made 33 appearances and helped the team win the Carabao Cup.
The young defender’s progress also caught the attention of England, leading to his debut for the U21s and inclusion in the provisional squad for Euro 2024.
Quansah remains focused on continuing his development, stating: “I take it one step at a time, aiming to improve in every training session. My goal is to keep learning from the senior players and push myself to get better.”
He is also eager to compete for a place in the starting lineup: “We’ve created a competitive environment where everyone is pushing for spots, and that’s only going to help us become stronger as individuals and as a team.”
With his new contract in place, Quansah is ready to keep progressing and make an even bigger impact in the seasons to come.
