Jayden Danns: Liverpool’s Breakthrough Star Eyes Continued Success Under New Coach Arne Slot

Jayden Danns experienced a remarkable breakthrough season under Jurgen Klopp in 2023/24 and now aims to maintain his momentum with Arne Slot taking the reins at Liverpool.

Having just turned 18 in January, Danns began the season with the U18s but quickly established himself within the first team by the end of the campaign. The young striker made his debut as a substitute against Luton in February and went on to make five appearances, scoring twice in the FA Cup victory over Southampton. In total, he was included in the matchday squad 11 times.

Klopp praised Danns as a “massive talent,” and in March, Liverpool secured his future with a long-term contract, underscoring the club’s belief in his potential.

As Slot steps in as the new head coach, the expectation is that Danns will remain integrated with the senior team. Following an unforgettable season, Danns shared a five-minute highlight reel on Instagram, showcasing his journey from the U18s to the first team. The video features his stunning backheeled goal against Manchester United U21s at Old Trafford, his double against Arsenal U18s in the FA Youth Cup, and his brace at Anfield in the FA Cup.

This highlight reel encapsulates his impressive rise and is sure to catch Slot’s eye as he prepares for his first season at Liverpool.

Despite his season ending early due to injury, Danns is expected to join the initial group heading to the AXA Training Centre for the start of pre-season. There, he will have the opportunity to train alongside stars like Mohamed Salah, Kostas Tsimikas, and Fabio Carvalho as Slot assesses his new squad for the 2024/25 season.

Given Slot’s tactical approach at Feyenoord, which featured a prominent No. 9 in Mexican striker Santiago Gimenez, there is reason to believe Danns could play a significant role in his plan.

The decision on whether Danns remains a first-team regular, returns to the academy, or goes out on loan will likely be made later in the summer.
