Latest Reports Reveal Details of Alexis Mac Allister’s Injury for Argentina

Mac Allister, who had opened the scoring in Argentina’s 3-0 victory over Chile, was forced off the field in the 79th minute after experiencing some discomfort.

Alexis Mac Allister’s injury during Argentina’s World Cup qualifier on Thursday night has raised concerns about his availability for Liverpool’s upcoming Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest.

Argentina’s manager, Lionel Scaloni, explained that the midfielder had been dealing with some physical issues during the match.

Further updates have now surfaced, with TyC Sports journalist Gaston Edul reporting that Mac Allister’s problem stems from “adductor discomfort.” The journalist added that the 25-year-old would follow a modified training schedule until Tuesday in hopes of being fit for Argentina’s next game against Colombia.

Argentina’s match against Colombia, featuring his Liverpool teammate Luis Diaz, is part of the ongoing South American World Cup qualifiers and is set to take place on Tuesday at 9:30 pm BST.

Argentina currently sits at the top of the qualifying group, having secured 18 points from seven matches. Uruguay, led by Darwin Nunez, trail four points behind in second place, while Colombia is one point further back after drawing 1-1 with Peru on Friday night.

Brazil, who won 1-0 against Ecuador thanks to Rodrygo’s goal assisted by Lucas Paqueta, round out the top four.

Although Argentina is hopeful that Mac Allister will recover in time to feature against Colombia, Liverpool might prefer for Scaloni to rest him completely rather than risk aggravating the injury by rushing him back.

The Reds are understandably cautious given the significant workload Mac Allister has carried over the last year. He already missed training in the lead-up to the Chile game due to “load management,” and his minutes continue to be closely monitored by both his club and country.

During his first season at Anfield, Mac Allister played more minutes than any Liverpool player besides Virgil van Dijk and Luis Diaz.

After that, he represented Argentina in six international games over the summer, two of which went into extra time. His season only ended on July 14, following Argentina’s Copa America win.

Liverpool will be hoping their No. 8 gets sufficient rest and recovers fully in time for the crucial clash against Nottingham Forest next Saturday.
