Luis Díaz put the finishing touch on a breathtaking counterattack, giving Liverpool an early lead against Brentford at Anfield.
The sequence began in the 13th minute when Brentford won a corner in front of the Kop. However, Ibrahima Konaté rose highest to clear the danger, setting Liverpool on a lightning-fast break. Diogo Jota and Díaz found themselves with plenty of space as they surged forward from the halfway line.
Jota showed great awareness, delivering a perfectly weighted pass to the Colombian forward. Díaz, keeping his cool, took a composed touch before firing a powerful shot into the roof of the net, leaving Brentford goalkeeper Mark Flekken with no chance.
This goal was not just a brilliant piece of individual skill but also a testament to Liverpool’s seamless teamwork under new manager Arne Slot. Díaz’s strike marked the first official Anfield goal of the Slot era, setting the tone for what promises to be an exciting chapter in Liverpool’s history.
