Liverpool are reportedly setting their sights on a promising young talent from South America as they prepare for the upcoming transfer window
Liverpool are reportedly setting their sights on a promising young talent from South America as they prepare for the upcoming transfer window. According to La Tercera, the Reds are gearing up to submit an offer ranging between $8 million and $10 million (£6.3 million – £7.9 million) for FC Midtjylland winger Dario Osorio, along with a future percentage clause for the 20-year-old.
Ove Pedersen, the deputy sporting director of the Danish club, has acknowledged the interest in the Chilean starlet but refrained from providing further details about potential bids. “This is not the way we work,” he stated, maintaining a reserved stance on the matter.
Osorio made his move to Europe from Chile last year and has had an impressive debut season in Denmark. He has netted eight goals and provided two assists in 24 appearances for Midtjylland so far, according to Transfermarkt. The versatile winger, capable of playing on both flanks, has also earned eight senior caps for Chile despite only turning 20 in January. He is currently part of his country’s provisional squad for the upcoming Copa America.
While Osorio shows significant promise, he would likely start as a squad option if he were to join Liverpool this summer. A potential loan move to a club in a major European league could also be on the cards, allowing him to gain regular game-time and continue his development.
As the transfer window approaches, Liverpool have been linked with numerous players across various positions. The focus will be on identifying which areas of the squad need the most reinforcement. Currently, new manager Arne Slot appears to have a well-stocked forward line, making Osorio a less urgent target for FSG. However, his relatively low cost and successful adaptation to European football make him an intriguing prospect for the future.
