Liverpool is reportedly aiming to secure the transfer of Borussia Dortmund winger Karim Adeyemi this summer, despite competition from Chelsea.
The 22-year-old has made a significant impact in the Bundesliga, catching the attention of Liverpool, who are keen to sign him amid uncertainties surrounding their star attackers, Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz. This is according to a report by Todo Fichajes.
The report indicates that Dortmund could demand around €30 million for Adeyemi, a price that should be manageable for both Liverpool and Chelsea. Both clubs are looking to rejuvenate their attacking options ahead of the next season.
Adeyemi could prove to be an excellent replacement if Salah or Diaz were to leave, whether this summer or the next. He might also provide a much-needed boost for Chelsea, potentially offering an upgrade over the struggling Raheem Sterling and Mykhailo Mudryk.
In addition to Liverpool and Chelsea, other Premier League giants such as Arsenal and Manchester United are also reportedly interested in Adeyemi. However, sources suggest that Chelsea is showing the strongest interest in the German international and may make an opening bid of €30 million, anticipating Sterling’s potential departure to Saudi Pro League club Al Ahli.
Despite reaching the Champions League final last season, Dortmund may face the challenge of keeping their squad intact as they often have to sell their star players. Recent high-profile sales include Jude Bellingham and Erling Haaland.
Given Adeyemi’s reasonable price tag compared to other players in his position, he appears to be a viable option for both Liverpool and Chelsea. Securing his transfer could significantly strengthen their squads for the upcoming season.
