Liverpool FC has achieved remarkable global recognition, being named the most-watched Premier League club for the 2023-24 season. According to independent data from Nielsen, a leader in media audience analytics, the Reds captivated a massive worldwide audience of 471 million across all 38 league matches, setting new records in the process.
The Premier League, already a global phenomenon, saw its viewership increase by seven percent compared to the previous season. Notably, the international market experienced significant growth, particularly in China, where viewership surged by an astonishing 373 percent, and in the USA, which saw a 42 percent increase. A standout moment came in December 2023, when Liverpool’s match against Arsenal attracted a then-record live audience of 2.28 million viewers in the United States.
Liverpool’s impact wasn’t limited to television audiences. Their pre-season tour in the USA was marked by record-breaking attendance figures. A match against Arsenal at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia drew 69,879 fans, setting a new stadium record for football attendance. The Reds also faced Manchester United in South Carolina, where they played in front of 77,559 supporters—the largest crowd ever recorded for a football match in either North or South Carolina.
In addition to their impressive viewership numbers, Liverpool FC led the Premier League in fan engagement, amassing over 1.5 billion interactions. On social media, they were the most-watched club, with a staggering 11.9 billion views. Furthermore, the club became the first in the Premier League to reach 10 million subscribers on YouTube, earning the prestigious Diamond Play Button, a milestone that places them among an exclusive group of creators on the platform.
