Liverpool FC’s Pre-Season Fixtures for 2024

This summer marks a significant pre-season for Liverpool FC as new head coach Arne Slot takes the reins for the first time since joining from Feyenoord. Here’s a comprehensive look at what’s in store.

New Leadership and Game Plans

With Slot at the helm, Liverpool will be adapting to new game plans and a fresh coaching staff. However, the team won’t have much time together before the new season begins. Slot has scheduled the start of pre-season for early July for those not participating in international duties, a few weeks ahead of the first confirmed friendly.

Confirmed Friendlies

Liverpool has locked in three friendlies as part of a U.S. tour, marking their first visit to the region since 2019. The team will depart around July 23 and will play against:

  • Real Betis (July 26) – Acrisure Stadium, Pittsburgh
  • Arsenal (July 31) – Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia
  • Manchester United (August 3) – Williams-Brice Stadium, South Carolina

These fixtures are confirmed, but additional local matches before the U.S. tour are possible.

Player Involvement

Player availability for pre-season could be affected by their participation in Copa America and the Euros. Depending on when they exit these tournaments, players are expected to get at least three weeks off. For instance, players exiting the Euros in the group stages might report back to Liverpool the week of July 15. This affects key players like Alisson, Alexis Mac Allister, Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, Virgil van Dijk, Ryan Gravenberch, Cody Gakpo, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ibrahima Konate, Andy Robertson, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Diogo Jota.

Upcoming Season

The new season kicks off on the weekend of August 16-18, roughly a month after the Euros conclude. The fixture list for the 2024/25 season will be released on June 18.
