Liverpool Initiates Contact with Serie A Star’s Representatives, Reports Transfer Expert

Liverpool recently initiated contact with the agents of Atalanta midfielder Ederson, but discussions have stalled, according to Fabrizio Romano.

In his exclusive Daily Briefing column for CaughtOffside, Romano clarified that while there was some preliminary interest from Liverpool, no formal negotiations or bids have been made for the Brazilian player. The situation has not advanced beyond initial contact.

Romano suggests that Liverpool’s interest in Ederson is still in a very early stage and lacks concrete developments at the moment. Additionally, Atalanta’s reluctance to sell the 24-year-old midfielder complicates matters. The Serie A club is hesitant to let Ederson leave in the same transfer window as another key player, Teun Koopmeiners.

This poses a challenge for Liverpool, as Koopmeiners is another highly sought-after player who could be transferred soon, potentially hindering Liverpool’s chances of securing Ederson.

Romano elaborated, “Liverpool contacted Ederson’s agents weeks ago but have not begun any formal negotiations or submitted a bid. It’s uncertain if Ederson will become a priority for Liverpool, and Atalanta is not willing to lose both Ederson and Koopmeiners.”

Given that Liverpool made significant changes to their midfield last year with the acquisitions of Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo, and Ryan Gravenberch, it remains to be seen if Ederson will be a focus for them this summer.
