Liverpool have entered the competition alongside Chelsea and Manchester United to acquire Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise, reports Football Insider.

Following an impressive season where Olise netted ten goals and contributed six assists in just 19 Premier League appearances, the Palace winger has attracted attention from top Premier League clubs.

Chelsea and Manchester United are keen to bolster their attacking options with Olise. Now, Liverpool has joined the pursuit, though the move seems questionable given Mohamed Salah occupies Olise’s preferred position.

Olise’s contract includes a £60m release clause, which interested clubs can activate if the player consents to the transfer. However, Liverpool faces challenges in securing his signature, with other clubs holding advantages.

Olise, a Manchester United supporter growing up, might prefer a move to Old Trafford. Additionally, being a London native currently residing there makes a switch to Chelsea more convenient.

Liverpool might be better off addressing other areas of their squad. Investing heavily in a position already filled by Salah seems unwise, especially when defensive reinforcements, such as a new centre-back to partner Virgil Van Dijk or a stronger left-back option, are more pressing needs.

With Salah expected to remain at Anfield for at least another season, Olise would likely be part of a rotation, a scenario he might find unappealing. Spending £60m on a rotational player isn’t a prudent decision for Liverpool at this time.

If Salah were leaving, prioritizing Olise would make sense for the Merseyside club, but under current circumstances, other areas should take precedence.
