Liverpool and Adrian have mutually decided to end their five-year relationship, with the 37-year-old goalkeeper set to rejoin Real Betis in Spain.
This departure creates a vacancy in Liverpool’s goalkeeping squad, paving the way for young shot-stopper Vitezslav Jaros to be promoted to the third-choice position behind Alisson Becker and Caoimhin Kelleher.
According to reports from the Mail’s Lewis Steele and the Athletic’s James Pearce, Liverpool is planning to elevate Jaros to the first-team roster. Manager Arne Slot and his staff are reportedly confident in Jaros’s abilities, making him a reliable addition to the squad. As a homegrown player, Jaros brings valuable experience and is currently enjoying a break after participating in the Czech Republic’s Euro campaign, which concluded at the group stage.
Given his potential and status as a homegrown talent, Jaros’s promotion seems like a logical step, especially as he will train closely with Alisson. Meanwhile, Kelleher, who has expressed a desire to become a first-choice goalkeeper, has attracted some transfer interest. However, Liverpool is holding out for a minimum of £25 million and has not yet received any serious offers for the Irish goalkeeper. Should that valuation not be met, Kelleher is expected to remain with the club, where he made significant contributions last season.
The upcoming season will see a reshuffled goalkeeping department for Liverpool. Fabian Otte is set to take over as the lead goalkeeping coach after his stint with the USA at Copa America. With Claudio Taffarel still engaged with the Brazilian national team, academy goalkeeping coach Mark Morris has been handling pre-season training. This training group includes Kelleher, Marcelo Pitaglua, Fabian Mrozek, and Harvey Davies, with Jaros expected to join them next week.
