Liverpool Faces Setbacks in Filling Key Coaching Positions

Liverpool’s efforts to bolster their coaching staff have hit a roadblock, with reports suggesting a major snag in securing a UK work permit for Reijnen, the Dutch analyst and technical advisor from Feyenoord. Reijnen has privately indicated that he now expects to remain at Feyenoord, delivering a significant blow to Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp, who is looking to complete his backroom team ahead of the upcoming season.

This development complicates matters for Klopp, who is still searching for a new goalkeeping coach after the departures of John Achterberg and Jack Robinson. Additionally, the club is in need of a set-piece coach and now must find an alternative to Reijnen.

The club’s decision-makers face a busy period as they attempt to finalize these appointments before pre-season training commences on July 1.

Nieminen Unlikely to Join Liverpool

In another setback, Feyenoord’s goalkeeping coach Jyri Nieminen has downplayed the likelihood of his move to Liverpool. Previously considered as a potential addition to Liverpool’s goalkeeping coaching team alongside Claudio Taffarel, Nieminen now seems poised to remain with Feyenoord.

Speaking to the Finnish magazine Apu, the 36-year-old coach expressed his thoughts: “The Liverpool opportunity was there, and I did consider it. However, it is very likely that I will continue with Feyenoord next season. The situation might change, but for now, that’s the plan.”

As Liverpool continues its search for coaching staff, the club’s administration has a significant amount of work to do to ensure the team is fully prepared for the new season.
