As Mohamed Salah approaches the final year of his contract with Liverpool, uncertainty looms over his long-term future at Anfield. Following the departure of Jurgen Klopp this summer, significant changes are anticipated for the Premier League giants.

Players such as Joel Matip, Thiago Alcantara, and Adrian are expected to leave the club as their contracts expire. Meanwhile, new manager Arne Slot is poised to make new signings to bolster the attack, midfield, and defense this summer.

Eventually, Liverpool will need to devise a plan to replace Salah, who has been instrumental in their success over the past six to seven years. Former West Ham United coach Kevin Nolan has suggested that Hammers star Jarrod Bowen could be the ideal candidate to fill Salah’s shoes at Anfield.

During a BBC Radio 5 debate on the future of Liverpool’s No. 11, Nolan—a lifelong Liverpool fan—was asked to identify a potential replacement for the forward. His response was unequivocal: “Bowen.”

Jurgen Klopp has also expressed his admiration for the West Ham United player, praising the England international in December last year. “Playing without Antonio, and Bowen steps up in that position – probably my favourite player besides my players,” Klopp said, via Sky Sports. “It’s just great what he’s doing and how he develops.”

Bowen had an impressive 2023-24 season, scoring 16 goals and providing 6 assists in the Premier League, contributing significantly to West Ham United’s top-half finish.

While Salah is likely to remain at Anfield for the near future, should he leave next summer, Bowen could be a fitting replacement. With his Premier League experience and consistent performances in England, Bowen could effectively fill the gap if Liverpool were to pursue him as Salah’s successor.
