Galatasaray are reportedly considering a late swoop for Liverpool’s defensive stalwart, Andrew Robertson.
The Turkish champions have been highly active in this summer’s transfer market, as they aim to bolster their squad to defend their Super Lig title. So far, they’ve secured the signatures of Michy Batshuayi, Elias Jelert, and Gabriel Sara. However, manager Okan Buruk has hinted that more additions could be on the horizon before the transfer window closes.
According to a report from Aspor, Galatasaray are now targeting Liverpool’s fan-favorite, Andrew Robertson. The club believes they lack sufficient quality at left-back and see the Scottish international as the ideal solution. With Derrick Köhn being their only natural left-back, it’s clear why Robertson is on their radar.
Since joining Liverpool in 2017, the 30-year-old Robertson has become a crucial figure for the Reds, making nearly 300 appearances and winning every major trophy available. Despite being limited to just 30 appearances last season due to injury, the Scottish full-back remains integral to Liverpool’s plans under Arne Slot. However, with only two years remaining on his current contract, Galatasaray are preparing to test Liverpool’s resolve with an offer.
While the Turkish side might hope to secure Robertson for a reduced fee, his significance to Liverpool makes any potential departure unlikely unless an exceptional bid is tabled. Robertson is immensely popular among Liverpool supporters, who will be eager to see him continue his runs down the left wing during the 2024/25 season, despite the growing interest from Turkey.
