Liverpool’s young forward, Ben Doak, has been loaned to Middlesbrough for the 2024-25 season.
The 18-year-old will spend the rest of the campaign with the Championship side following a loan agreement finalized on transfer deadline day.
Doak, who represents Scotland at the U21 level, joined Liverpool from Celtic in the summer of 2022. Since his arrival at Anfield, he has made 10 senior appearances, making his first-team debut at just 16 years old in a match against Derby County in November 2022.
In September last year, Doak committed his future to Liverpool by signing a new long-term contract. However, his progress was hampered by a knee injury sustained just before Christmas, which sidelined him for the remainder of the 2023-24 season.
Despite his injury setback, Doak was initially named in Scotland’s provisional squad for Euro 2024, although he had to withdraw due to injury.
Ahead of the 2024-25 season, Doak participated in five pre-season friendlies with Liverpool, showcasing his potential and readiness to return to competitive action. Now, he will aim to further his development and gain valuable senior experience under the guidance of Middlesbrough’s head coach, Michael Carrick.
This loan move presents a significant opportunity for Doak to continue his growth as a player and make a mark in the Championship, an environment known for its competitive and physically demanding nature. His time at Middlesbrough will be crucial in helping him regain full fitness and sharpness following his injury, while also providing him with regular first-team football.
Liverpool will be closely monitoring his progress throughout the season, with hopes that the experience will benefit both the player and the club in the long term. As Doak embarks on this new chapter in his career, fans of both Liverpool and Middlesbrough will be eager to see how the young talent performs at the Riverside Stadium.
