Mo Salah has opened up about his contract situation at Liverpool, though he remains tight-lipped, emphasizing that he’s not currently focused on it.
With Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold all entering the final year of their contracts, Liverpool fans are growing anxious about the possibility of one or more of them leaving the club next summer. Of the three, Salah appears the most likely to depart.
When asked by Sky Sports how he’s handling the ongoing contract discussions, Salah responded, “Honestly, I’m not giving it much thought. With time, I think I’ve gained a bit more wisdom. I came into this season knowing I have just one year left on my contract, so I decided to focus on enjoying it rather than worrying about what comes next.”
He continued, “I don’t want to get caught up in thinking about next year or the future. I’m just taking it one day at a time, being grateful for the present.”
Despite the uncertainty surrounding his future at Liverpool, Salah’s dedication on the pitch is unmistakable. He’s already netted two goals in Liverpool’s opening two matches of the season, showcasing his sharp form under new head coach Arne Slot.
Salah also discussed his deep connection to football, saying, “My life revolves around the game. Whether I’m at home or at the gym, everything I do is tied to football. I enjoy my life, but football is my priority.”
Since joining Liverpool for an initial fee of £36.9 million in 2017, Salah has proven to be one of the club’s most successful transfers in modern times. Over seven years, he has consistently delivered top-level performances, more than justifying his price tag. However, if he decides to leave, Liverpool would undoubtedly prefer to secure a substantial transfer fee rather than lose him for free.
