Liverpool’s young defender, Luke Chambers, has been loaned to Wigan Athletic for the 2024-25 season. The 20-year-old is set to rejoin the League One club after a successful stint with them in the latter half of the previous season.
Chambers has been a part of Liverpool since he was six years old and has recently had a promising run with Wigan, making 18 appearances under the guidance of Shaun Maloney since his arrival in January. Prior to that, Chambers played four matches for Liverpool’s senior team earlier in the season.
The England U19 international has also been involved in Liverpool’s pre-season activities, participating in three friendly matches under the direction of head coach Arne Slot. Despite his contributions, the decision has been made for him to gain further experience at Wigan, where he will join fellow Liverpool loanee Calvin Ramsay. Ramsay had earlier moved to Wigan’s Brick Community Stadium on loan in July.
This move is seen as a strategic step for Chambers to develop his skills and gain more first-team experience in a competitive environment.
