Liverpool are among several Premier League teams reportedly showing interest in Lutsharel Geertruida, a defender from Feyenoord, as they aim to reinforce their defense following the exit of Joel Matip.
With Matip leaving Liverpool after his contract ended, and Joe Gomez potentially on the move as well—with Newcastle United showing interest—Liverpool are looking to bolster their defensive options. According to Dutch source ADSportwereld, Geertruida has attracted attention from multiple top English clubs.
In addition to Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, and West Ham United are all keeping tabs on the Netherlands international. Liverpool may have a slight advantage in securing Geertruida due to his previous working relationship with Arne Slot, his former manager at Feyenoord, who has recently taken over from Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool’s head coach.
Geertruida, 23, is in the final year of his contract with Feyenoord, which is set to expire next June. Given this contract situation, it is likely that Feyenoord will look to sell him this summer to avoid losing him on a free transfer next year.
