Liverpool have finalized an agreement to sign Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, pending a work permit and international clearance.
The 23-year-old will join the Reds ahead of the 2025-26 season, but will remain with Valencia for the rest of the current campaign.
Mamardashvili’s stock rose significantly after an impressive Euro 2024 performance with Georgia, where he played a crucial role in helping his team reach the Round of 16. During the group stage, he made 21 saves, tying the record for the most saves in the tournament’s history.
The Georgian international, who has earned 21 caps for his country, will continue to develop at Valencia, where he has established himself as a key player since joining from Dinamo Tbilisi in 2021. Over his three years with Los Che, Mamardashvili has made 102 appearances and kept 31 clean sheets across all competitions. This season, he has already featured in both of Valencia’s La Liga matches against Barcelona and Celta Vigo.
Liverpool’s decision to secure Mamardashvili’s services comes as they look to strengthen their goalkeeping options for the future. His impressive track record at both the international and club levels makes him a promising addition to the squad when he eventually moves to Anfield next summer.
