Liverpool have reportedly identified West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus as a potential long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah.
Salah, 32, is nearing the end of his contract at Anfield, which is set to expire at the close of this season. Despite ongoing negotiations, he has yet to sign an extension, raising concerns about his future at the club.
While Liverpool are looking to secure new deals for several key players, including Virgil Van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold—who has attracted interest from Real Madrid—little progress has been made in these discussions. However, Salah’s situation is particularly pressing. With strong links to Saudi Arabia’s Pro League, there is growing speculation he could depart next summer.
Salah has been a top target for Saudi clubs for over a year, with Al Ittihad reportedly offering £150 million for the Egyptian winger last summer (BBC Sport). Though no move materialized at the time, that could change at the end of the current campaign, especially with Salah set to become a free agent. Additionally, MLS side San Diego FC have recently expressed interest in securing his signature.
In light of this, Liverpool are already considering potential replacements, with Mohammed Kudus emerging as a serious option, according to Fichajes. The 24-year-old Ghanaian, who joined West Ham from Ajax last summer, has impressed during his first season in the Premier League, catching the eye of several top clubs, including Liverpool.
Kudus’ age, combined with his ability and experience in the Premier League, makes him an appealing candidate for a move to a top-four club. His performances have showcased his talent in the league’s demanding and fast-paced environment, further increasing his appeal as a potential successor to Salah.
Since joining West Ham, Kudus has contributed 15 goals and 7 assists in 54 appearances across all competitions. He still has four-and-a-half years left on his contract, meaning any move for him would require a substantial offer. Nevertheless, Liverpool are closely monitoring his development at West Ham as they face the mounting pressure of addressing Salah’s uncertain future.
As the Reds work to resolve their contract issues and prepare for the possibility of losing their star winger, Kudus has emerged as a strong candidate to fill Salah’s shoes, should the Egyptian leave Anfield next summer.
