Match Recap: Ipswich vs Liverpool Premier League
Ipswich came out with their trademark energy in the first half, a period marked more by grit and determination than by attacking flair.
Both teams struggled with ball control on a pitch that seemed slow and dry, and neither goalkeeper faced much of a challenge in the opening 45 minutes. Omari Hutchinson showed promise with a breakaway, forcing a straightforward save from Alisson, while Jacob Greaves tested the keeper from a set-piece. On the other side, Trent Alexander-Arnold sent a shot over the bar from the edge of the box to conclude a goalless first half.
But everything changed after the break. Slot’s team began to find their rhythm, dominating possession and consistently breaching Ipswich’s backline. After squandering several opportunities early in the second half, Jota finally broke the deadlock with a well-executed team move around the 60-minute mark.
From that point on, it was a matter of how many Liverpool would score. They seemed poised to strike every time they advanced, overwhelming an Ipswich side that had invested so much energy in the first half. Mohamed Salah added a second goal shortly after, and while Liverpool eased off in the final third, sparing Ipswich from a lopsided defeat, they missed several chances to increase their lead late on.
