Arne Slot has hinted at “a couple more announcements” regarding new arrivals at Anfield in the near future, promising Liverpool fans some exciting news soon.
In his first media appearance as Liverpool’s head coach on Friday morning, Slot addressed questions about the backroom staff he’s bringing to the club. Among the notable additions are his former Feyenoord assistant Sipke Hulshoff and Ruben Peeters, who has taken on the role of lead physical performance coach for the first team.
The 45-year-old coach shared with reporters, via the Liverpool Echo, that there are more additions expected: “We’re expecting two others to join. [There’ll be] a couple more announcements in the near future.”
With Jurgen Klopp’s departure after nearly nine years, it wasn’t surprising that several of his backroom staff, including assistant coach Pep Lijnders and goalkeeping coach John Achterberg, also left Anfield. Slot’s swift move to bring in Hulshoff and Peeters is seen as a significant boost as he starts his tenure.
The new goalkeeping coach, Fabian Otte, is now set to join the squad following the USA’s early exit from the Copa America. For long-standing Liverpool players, adapting to new voices and approaches in training sessions will be a challenge after years of consistency under Klopp’s regime.
However, Slot comes with a strong reputation and will be reassured by having trusted colleagues from Feyenoord by his side. As Liverpool undergoes a period of significant transition, the new head coach’s familiar support network will be crucial.
Liverpool fans eagerly anticipate further additions to Slot’s backroom team in the coming weeks as the club embarks on this new chapter.
