Romano Reveals Saudi Pro League Interest in Liverpool’s Alisson Becker
Fabrizio Romano has disclosed that the Saudi Pro League recently made an approach for Liverpool’s star goalkeeper, Alisson Becker.
Earlier this month, The Guardian reported that Alisson was among the prominent players being targeted by Middle Eastern clubs ahead of this summer’s transfer window.
Romano, speaking on his YouTube channel, provided an update on the Brazilian, who still has three years left on his contract with Liverpool.
Romano said: “In the last few days we heard rumours about Alisson and proposals from Saudi Arabia. After checking, I found out that there were some approaches around March and April to understand the situation with Alisson.
“The information I received, as of the end of May, is that there was some interest, but Alisson is expected to stay at Liverpool. The club has no plans to change their goalkeeper. They are very happy with him, and Alisson is content at Liverpool. He’s not looking to move for money, so currently, there is no expectation for him to leave for Saudi Arabia this summer.”
Following last summer’s Saudi transfer spree, it’s unsurprising that clubs from the region are exploring the possibility of signing one of the world’s top goalkeepers.
Fortunately for Liverpool, Alisson appears to prioritize the prestige of playing in top-tier English and European football over a lucrative move to the Middle East.
Alisson is a crucial player for Liverpool, and losing him would be a significant blow. It seems likely he will remain at Anfield for the foreseeable future.
