Federico Chiesa wasted no time settling in as he reported to the AXA Training Centre on Friday, where he received a warm welcome from his new Liverpool teammates.
After a summer of anticipation, the moment Liverpool fans and the squad had been waiting for finally arrived—the Italian winger is now officially part of the team and ready to contribute to the upcoming season.
The last three days have likely been a whirlwind for Chiesa, as he traveled to Merseyside, was introduced as a Liverpool player, and began training with his new club in a new city, surrounded by new faces.
Despite all the changes, Chiesa was greeted with open arms. A video shared across Liverpool’s social media platforms showed Virgil van Dijk, Tyler Morton, and Trent Alexander-Arnold warmly welcoming the 26-year-old.
In the video, Chiesa confidently entered the cafeteria with a cheerful “good morning, everyone,” before meeting the captain, Virgil van Dijk. It was clear that Chiesa was impressed by Van Dijk’s presence—an understandable reaction given the Dutchman’s commanding aura.
Later, Alexander-Arnold encountered Chiesa on the stairs, with the vice-captain smiling as he referred to the Italian as the “new boy on the block.” This friendly interaction highlighted the excitement felt by both the players and supporters over Chiesa’s arrival.
Chiesa got his first taste of life with his new teammates on the pitch during Friday’s training session. However, Curtis Jones was notably absent due to injury.
As for Chiesa’s chances of featuring in the squad against Manchester United, manager Arne Slot mentioned that “it’s more likely he won’t be in the squad than that he will be.”
There’s a lot of buzz surrounding Chiesa’s move to Liverpool, and if fans weren’t already convinced, his first interview with the club will likely win them over.
