Luis Diaz is emerging as a key player for Liverpool in the 2024/25 season, showcasing his potential with two impressive goals in quick succession as the Reds dominated Sevilla in the first half at Anfield today.
Diaz’s first goal, which extended Liverpool’s lead to 2-0, was a stunning strike into the top corner, leaving the Sevilla goalkeeper with no chance. His second goal, just before the halftime whistle, was a more composed finish, but equally well-executed.
The sequence leading up to his second goal began when Diogo Jota intercepted the ball near the halfway line. Jota then delivered a precise, first-time through ball to Dominik Szoboszlai. Szoboszlai, with a burst of pace, carried the ball into Sevilla’s penalty area before unselfishly squaring it to Diaz. The Colombian forward was perfectly positioned to calmly slot the ball home from six yards, sealing a dominant first-half performance by Liverpool.
Liverpool’s attacking prowess in the first half has been a delight for their supporters, with clinical finishing and fluid teamwork on full display. Diaz’s contribution, in particular, has been a highlight, giving fans plenty of reason for optimism as the season progresses.
