Liverpool Not Targeting Wolves Star Pedro Neto This Summer
Reports suggest that Liverpool will not be making a move for Wolves’ Pedro Neto in the upcoming transfer window. The Reds are focused on supporting new manager Arne Slot as he prepares for his first season at Anfield, aiming to provide the Dutchman with a strong squad to ensure success.
This summer is expected to be a busy one for Liverpool, with uncertainties surrounding key players such as Virgil Van Dijk and Mohamed Salah as the club enters a new era under Slot’s leadership.
Despite Neto’s early-season form for Wolves, where he recorded two goals and nine assists in 20 Premier League appearances, injuries have plagued his campaign. This has influenced Liverpool’s decision not to pursue him. According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Liverpool is put off by both Neto’s injury history and Wolves’ asking price of over £60 million.
“Liverpool and Pedro Neto have been linked, but I’m told that’s not one that they are necessarily looking at, at the moment, partly because Wolves are going to insist on £60 million plus,” Jacobs told GIVEMESPORT. “And also the player’s injury record at that price is maybe putting off Liverpool.”
Since joining Wolves from Braga in 2019, Neto has struggled with injuries, limiting him to just 111 Premier League appearances and 11 goals over five seasons.
As Liverpool prepares for the new season, they may still look to bolster their attack given the uncertain futures of Salah and Luis Diaz. Brentford’s Bryan Mbuemo has been mentioned as a potential target.
Additionally, the club could reinforce their defense following Joel Matip’s departure and may strengthen the midfield, with Slot reportedly being an admirer of Porto’s Alan Varela.
