Liverpool and Manchester United in Race to Sign 27-Year-Old Left-Back

Liverpool and Manchester United in Race to Sign 27-Year-Old Left-Back

Liverpool are reportedly eyeing Fulham’s left-back Antonee Robinson as a potential transfer target.

According to journalist Alan Nixon, the Reds are set to compete with Manchester United for the 27-year-old United States international. Robinson has impressed during his time in the premier league, and Liverpool are ready to pursue his signing in the upcoming transfer windows.

It’s clear why Liverpool are in the market for a left-back. While Andrew Robertson has been a key figure in their defence for years, his performances have slightly dipped as he approaches the later stages of his career.

Liverpool will soon need a reliable successor. Kostas Tsimikas, though a capable backup, may not be at the level required to start regularly for a club with Liverpool’s ambitions, especially if they aim to compete for major honours.

Securing a deal for Robinson could prove beneficial for Liverpool. The American defender has demonstrated his ability in the Premier League and would likely relish the chance to join one of the biggest clubs in world football. Playing at Anfield would offer Robinson the chance to prove himself on an even larger stage, with Liverpool consistently competing for silverware.

Manchester United are also keen on strengthening their left-back position. Despite having Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia in their squad, both have struggled with injury setbacks, leaving United short of dependable options. As a result, United could see Robinson as an ideal addition to provide more depth and quality in that position.

Financially, both Liverpool and Manchester United have the resources to finalize the deal. Either club could be an attractive option for Robinson, but Liverpool’s consistent presence in major competitions may give them an edge over United.

While Erik ten Hag is in the process of rebuilding Manchester United, they are still some distance from being regular contenders for top trophies, whereas Liverpool remain in the hunt for silverware year after year.

In the end, it will be interesting to see which club can secure Robinson’s signature, as both could benefit from his services. Whether he chooses the allure of Liverpool’s established project or the potential rebuild at Manchester United, Robinson will have the chance to take the next big step in his career.
